Events in 2016

2016 was a very active year for Ivan Brkljačić. Apart from the most significant event – Author’s concert, held at the end of May in SKC, Belgrade, Brkljačić had several of his compositions premiered, in Belgrade: B-G-B-A-Ro(c)k for baroque ensemble, Eleganza Nuova for chamber string orchestra and in Maribor: Fliza – version for flute and piano.

During the six-month period (September 2016 – March 2017) Brkljačić’s compositions were performed at concerts in France, Italy and England, namely:
– in Paris (Serbian Cultural Center): Impromptu for piano, Sax & Sex for saxophones and piano, If I had your Eyes for soprano, flute and piano and B-G-B-A Ro(c)k for baroque ensemble
– in Limoges, Selmer and Rungis: Sax & sex for saxophones and piano
– in Rome, (Baldini hall): Couvade for violin, clarinet and piano
– in London (St. James’s Church Piccadilly): Fliza – version for flute and piano

String quartet TAJJ from Novi Sad performed Brkljačić’s composition Mokranjac – Variations on the fragment from Njest Svjat during their Serbian tour in October and November 2016 in Kragujevac, Niš, Subotica, Novi Sad and Belgrade.

Serbian artists Đorđe Miloševič, cello and Bojana Dimković, piano performed Brkljačić’s composition … In the Blink of an Eye… during their Serbian tour in Kosovska Mitrovica, Raška, Niš and Belgrade.

In mid-October 2016 Brkljačić gave a lecture Possibilities, Opportunities and Experience to students of the international Career Plan course as part of Operos, an opera festival in Belgrade.

In previous months Brkljačić acted as a jury member at competitions ReConstruction and Kornelije in Belgrade, a competition of Young Solfeggists in Požarevac, as well as a jury member of Mokranjac Award – the most prestigious award for classical music composers in Serbia.
